Designing an Interactive Model for Various Organizational Cultures and the Processes Involved in Knowledge Management

Document Type : Research Paper

Abstract

This research is intended to provide a framework for the relationship between process development of knowledge management and different organizational cultures. Organizational climate, here conceptualized as knowledge climate, is used for this purpose. It is explained that in this framework, creative culture supports creative climate. Hence, the process of producing and acquiring knowledge is promoted and conceptual knowledge is improved. Continuation of the current culture supporting the systemic climate brings about development in organizing and storing processes, and improves system knowledge. Participative culture, on the other hand, supports discourse climate resulting in the promotion of distribution and participation and enhancement of experimental knowledge. Finally, effectiveness culture supports employment culture and results in promotion of practical knowledge. These four theories resulting from the framework of this research are tested in a field study using correlation method. The last two cultures are not approved because their knowledge management programs in the selected organizations are quite new.
