Evaluation of the Maturity of Human Capital Management at Higher Education

Abstract

This research is aimed at evaluating the human capital practices in the faculties of management, psychology and educational sciences at the University of Tehran. This research follows an applied purpose which employs a descriptive-survey method for data collection. A sample containing 118 employs from these two faculties was developed by stratified sampling. They were exposed to Bassi and Mcmurrer’s human capital questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated to be 0.86 according to Cronbach’s alpha. The data was analyzed by univariate and bivariate T-test. The results indicated that the mean score of the faculty of psychology and educational sciences was significantly higher than that of the faculty of management in relation to learning capacity and availability of knowledge. The mean scores of the two faculties did not differ significantly with relation to leadership practices, employments entanglement, and modification of human resource. Generally, the situation of the faculty of psychology and educational sciences was higher than moderate with regard to human resource management. The faculty of management was at moderate level in this regard.
