The Effect of Interactional Relationship of Employees with Supervisors and Colleagues and their Positions in the Hierarchy on Their Perception of Political Climate in the Organization

Abstract

This research is intended to study the effect of interactional relationship and employees' position in the organizational hierarchy on their perception of  political climate in the organization. To do this, the model of perceived organizational climate was studied in some work climate in Iran. The research is a descriptive one which follows developmental aims. The main method being followed in this research is surveying. The data is collected by a questionnaire. The analysis of the relationship was performed by path analysis, U Mann Whitney, Smirnoff test, confirmatory factor analysis, goodness of fit index. The results indicated that among interactional relationship, the relationship between employees and supervisors was significantly effective on perceiving political climate in the organization. Perceiving political climate is negatively effective on performance. The results also indicated that the managers in the hierarchy perceive political climate less than the ordinary employees. Using these results, the research presents a model to decrease the perception of political climate in the organization which the promotion of the interactional relationship between employees with supervisors, and promoting participatory management  and delegation of authority are more emphasized.
