Abstract

Abstract
The competencies of social managers in the Armed Forces Social Security Organization (SATA) encompass a set of skills, knowledge, and behaviors that assist managers in providing more effective services and achieving maximum satisfaction among retirees (dependents) and SATA employees by deeply understanding their needs. The present study aims to propose a comprehensive model for evaluating the competencies of social managers in SATA. Given the extensive changes in work environments and the growing importance of managerial competencies, this research identifies and categorizes the various dimensions of managerial competencies within SATA. To achieve this goal, the relevant literature and theoretical foundations were first reviewed, followed by the collection of qualitative data through semi-structured interviews with senior SATA managers. In total, 552 basic themes, 64 organizing themes, and 10 overarching themes were extracted and categorized. The results of the thematic analysis revealed that managerial competencies in SATA include ten main dimensions, such as management and leadership, organizational culture and communication, training and development, and resilience and accountability. The proposed model can serve as an effective tool for evaluating, developing professional competencies, and planning managerial succession within the organization. This research, by providing a practical and operational framework, contributes to expanding knowledge in the field of managerial competencies and improving management processes within SATA.
