Abstract

This study aims to reveal the discourses of the human resource management system at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. In a qualitative approach, texts gathered from 42 deep semi-structured interviews with managers and experts working in the organizational development and human resources department of the university have been analyzed through the Fairclough critical discourse analysis method and then messy, ordered and social world maps have been extracted using Clark’s Situational analysis. According to the research results, different discursive constructs play various roles in this organization’s human resource management functions. Denying regulatory laws, power actors used them just as a tool in their power relations. Managers' insights and tastes, political attitudes, human constructs, government laws and regulations, board approvals, and environmental and cultural factors are the most important actors in the organization’s human resource management discourse. Continuation of the current trend marginalizes silent actors, who are competent people in most cases, and strengthens current power relations.
