All scholars of management believe that decision making is important in any situation. Yet, it is moreimportant in organizations associatedwith the country’s security. Several factors affect decisionmaking by commanders and managers including organizational factors, environment and information. This research intends to investigate individual factors relating to the commanders and managers, such as personality, method of data gathering and evaluation, mental images and criteria for evaluation.
Research community includes all of the commanders and mangers in one of the forces of the Iranian armed forces. A questionnaire was used to collect data, and rout analysis techniqueswereused for data analysis. The results indicated that data collection style and that of the evaluation of commanders and managers were significantly related totheir decision making. The researchers also found out that mental image –especially the image of the objectives- and evaluation criteria were directly or indirectly related.
